The brief
A short, contained project with one deliverable: a dynamic admin dashboard for SK-II’s internal teams - the staff and sellers running promotion campaigns around the Olympic Games in Japan.
No app, no brand work, no site. They needed the dashboard, and they needed it to hold an eighteen-month campaign plan that ran before, during and after the Games.
The problem
A global beauty campaign is a scheduling problem before it is a creative one. Every asset has an owner, a status, a live window, a set of target platforms - Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LINE, Weibo, TikTok, Tmall, JD, Rakuten - and a set of target markets, which for SK-II means a dozen countries with different calendars and different channels.
The people using this are not analysts. They are marketers and sellers who need to know what is live today, what is late, and what they are meant to be doing next.
What I did
Two views doing two jobs. The timeline is the plan: the eighteen months laid out in phases - pre-Olympics, Olympics, post-Olympics - with each campaign’s content types stacked underneath and the event markers running along the bottom. It answers where are we at a glance.
The asset detail is the record: one campaign item opened up, with its owner, status, live dates, runtime, target platforms and target markets on a single surface, and its reference files attached. It answers what exactly is this, and is it ready.
Both were designed as a clean, restrained interface in SK-II’s red and white, and optimised across devices - a seller checking status on a phone between appointments is as real a user as a marketer at a desk.
Outcome
The dashboard shipped as the internal tool behind the campaign - a small, fast project, and a useful counterweight to the long ones: sometimes the client has correctly diagnosed what they need, and the job is to build that well rather than to widen it.
